Ornament × Cinema: three special screenings
With the Ornament team, I organised three big screenings of films from the magazine’s issues.
The task. Turn a simple screening into a full event, so guests felt they had stepped into the film
for an evening — not just watched it.
What I did
— Worked on every screening from the first brainstorm to the night itself
— Cast look-alikes: Zero Moustafa and Agatha for The Grand Budapest Hotel, a drummer for Whiplash
— Made film-accurate props: star-painted apples, a replica cider bottle and a wooden crate for Fantastic Mr Fox
— Worked with artists on the Mendl’s boxes
— Made teasers and a digital flip-book of the magazine for guests
— Arranged passes, permissions and logistics, and ran the floor on the night
It is the work I am proudest of: small, film-accurate details that people noticed, photographed
and talked about.

The Grand Budapest Hotel
Karo Oktyabr · 1,500-seat hall
I helped organise this screening in the largest cinema hall in Moscow and in Russia — 1,500 seats. Together with the team, we turned it into an immersive, interactive journey that drew guests right into the world of the film.
The team and I prepared the props — Mendl’s boxes with biscuits handed to every guest at the door, and postcards — and characters from the film stepped off the screen to meet the audience in the hall.

Date riddles for Moscow, St Petersburg and Rostov-on-Don — a teaser series I made for the screenings, with the screening’s dates hidden inside.

02
Fantastic Mr Fox
Moskino Kosmos · the largest hall
Props straight from Boggis, Bunce and Bean. I painted apples with gold stars, made a replica cider bottle with my own label, and crafted a wooden crate lined with yellow tissue to present them — matching the film’s frames, shown here next to my photos.

My props for the screening
A digital magazine for the night. I turned the three Fantastic Mr Fox pages from Ornament’s Wes Anderson issue into an interactive flip-book: every guest could open it by QR code and turn the pages on their phone, like a real magazine.
03
Whiplash
Karo Oktyabr
After the success of the first screening, we held another one in the same hall at Karo Oktyabr, the largest in Moscow. I found a drummer who looked strikingly like Andrew Neiman, the film’s hero played by Miles Teller, and before the film he played “Caravan” in the hall. I also made the “good job” cards with a plaster stuck on — a nod to the film’s bleeding hands.

Working with cinematography, in any form, is my biggest source of inspiration and my greatest passion. If you have a film project in mind, I’d be really happy to be part of it.
